Annual Fund For Excellence

The annual fund remains at the core of our efforts to build a comprehensive program of private support. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Each year, all alumni are encouraged to give to the annual fund. Participation matters, as others look to the support we enjoy from those closest to us: our alumni, faculty, staff and friends.

Unrestricted gifts to the annual fund support core commitments, essentially everything that helps sustain, nurture and propel forward our law school and model of legal education with its twin emphases on academic excellence and education for justice.

Your gift helps support:

  • Student scholarships
  • The Center for Professional Development, serving students and alumni in their careers
  • A first-rate library with services alumni continue to rave about
  • Outstanding new faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service
  • Student organizations, including Moot Court, IPLS, Law Review, SJSJ, Women’s Law Caucus, BLSA, among many others
  • A comprehensive curriculum in international and comparative law, including expanded study abroad opportunities as well as internships and externships
  • CLE’s, special programs and increased communications
  • Faculty scholarship
  • The centers, institutes and the Ronald A. Peterson Law Clinic
  • And so much more, as we continually update core programs and introduce important new initiatives.

With over $210,000 raised through the annual fund in 2007-08 - a seven percent increase over the prior year and a nearly 150 percent increase since 2005 – it is clear that we are building a culture of giving and support among growing numbers of alumni and friends who are keen on ensuring Seattle University School of Law’s continued success.

Alumni and Class Giving

Alumni and current students are encouraged to participate each year in the law school's annual fund. Your gift provides critical support, helping fund scholarships and core commitments, while encouraging the giving of others, particularly members of your section or class. Each spring, the graduating class orchestrates a giving campaign designed to educate all that the advancement of SU School of Law is everyone's responsibility. As an alumna/us with a vested interest in the success of Seattle University School of Law and the value of your degree, you are encouraged to add your name to the growing group of alumni, current students, friends, faculty and staff who find the work of the school today both meaningful and exhilarating, and who wish to help shape and propel their law school.

Dean’s Club

Membership in the Seattle University School of Law Dean’s Club is a special honor for alumni and friends who make an annual contribution of $1,000 or more to the law school. Your generosity at this level ensures the excellence at the School of Law by providing critical support, making possible our steadfast commitment to academic excellence and education for justice in promotion of our mission to educate outstanding lawyers who are leaders for a just and humane world. Your gift further leverages the annual private support we receive, helping to propel this young law school squarely among the ranks of the nation’s best law schools.

A plaque at the west entrance of the school, which is updated annually, honors each Dean’s Club member.

All School of Law Dean’s Club members are automatically members of the Seattle University President’s Club.

I give because:
"I am attracted to this law school because of its extraordinary ability to put flesh on the idea of advancing social justice through the practice of law. Under the leadership of Dean Testy, the law school has made a huge difference in this community, and it is exciting to participate and support the advancement of that mission."
