
Brooke Coleman

Biography
Professor Coleman teaches in the field of Civil Procedure. Much of her research explores the institutional dynamics of Civil Procedure and its impact on civil litigation. Her most recent article, "Recovering Access: Rethinking the Structure of Federal Civil Rulemaking", 39 N.M. L. Rev. ___ (2009), examines how the institutional failings of the civil rulemaking process have allowed for the production of rules that diminish access.
Prior to joining the faculty of Seattle University, Professor Coleman was a Fellow at Stanford Law School. From 2003-2006, she clerked for Honorable David F. Levi, district judge in the Eastern District of California and then-chair of the Standing Committee on the Federal Rules of Practice and Procedure. Before her clerkship, she worked as an attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian in Palo Alto, California.
