Alumni Regional Programs
For those of you who can't make it back to campus, SU School of Law is coming to your neighborhood! The Office of Alumni Relations is thrilled to offer distinguished speakers, events, CLEs and social gatherings for alumni in several cities nationwide. Currently, alumni communities are gathering together in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Anchorage, Tacoma, New York City, New Orleans and Washington D.C.
The official launch of the school's first alumni chapter will be in Washington D.C. on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Over 100 alumni living and working in the DC area and surrounding states have been invited to join Dean Annette Clark, Director of Alumni Relations Grace Greenwich as well as members of the school's Center for Professional Development team, Assistant Dean Shawn Lipton and Associate Director Stacey Lara-Kerr, for a celebratory evening in the Hyatt's Thornton Room on Capitol Hill. For reception logistics, please visit the event page.
The evening's program will feature an update on the Dean Search prior to the official launch of this regional program and a presentation on the newly created Alumni Online Directory. Alumni Relations has been building this directory for a number of months in response to the inquiries of several in the alumni community who wanted a way to better engage their alumni colleagues. In launching the D.C. Alumni Chapter, we're so pleased to roll out the directory at the same time.
During the winter and spring months, the Alumni Online Directory will be rolled-out at several other alumni events with the goal that all 9,000+ alumni of Seattle University School of Law will be actively engaged in the directory by May 2010.
We invite members of the alumni community to consider serving as a regional alumni representative on a committee, to partner with the Office of Alumni Relations on programming. Regional committees provide an opportunity for alumni to maintain connections to alumni colleagues in various regions of the country, while advancing the mission of the school. We also encourage regional committees to join us in hosting receptions to welcome prospective and incoming students to the law school community.
During the remainder of this academic year, the Office of Alumni Relations plans to travel to New Orleans, New York City, Dallas and Anchorage. More information will be forthcoming as dates are set and planning process begins. To get involved, please contact us at lawalumni@seattleu.edu or 206.398.4600.
